Boulder based alternative rock outfit Ok I Love You released their debut self titled album after extensively playing around the area. While this is the bands first official release as a four piece they have been active since 2022 as a three piece known as “Kapei” with (now official member) Annie Tanner serving as a guest vocalist as early as 2023. After releasing a number of albums as Kapei, Ok I Love You served as the official evolution of the band from a few kids dreaming to being cemented as one of the predominant bands in the Colorado emo scene.

Ok I Love You’s production balances clean and professional sound with high energy and lofi elements commonly found in the genre. Annie’s wide ranging emotional vocals make the songs stand out from many other releases, while guitars and vocals from Tommy Kapica build experimental foundations for the songs that still feel comfortable and familiar. What might stand out most on this album is the incredible performance on drums and bass from Brooke Fowler and Carter Croasdale respectively. Fowler’s ambient and feedback driven bass tones push songs forward and transmit energy usually stuck in the live scene while Croasdale’s fills and cymbal work create such power and emotion in songs such as break away and flesh tax.

Flesh tax that mixes high energy with the bands signature melodic style.

Weird light the most experimental track on the album with interesting soundscapes through electronics and distorted vocals.

And nothing never a classic emo style rock song with soul crushing vocals
